XBPlayer free mode and Pro: minutes, purchases and restoring access
New sessions in the free Android version use a time balance. The paid option removes XBPlayer ads and that requirement; check its duration and price in the offer on your device.

The free Android version of XBPlayer uses a playtime balance to start sessions. You can top it up by choosing to watch ads. XBPlayer Pro removes XBPlayer ads and the balance requirement. It does not include games, Game Pass or Microsoft cloud hours. Check the price, duration and renewal terms in the offer on your device.
What each payment covers
| What you pay for | What you receive | What remains separate |
|---|---|---|
| XBPlayer Pro | Use of the client without its ads or minute-balance requirement | Games, Game Pass and cloud-service hours |
| A game purchase | Access to the version purchased | Its console and cloud compatibility |
| Eligible Game Pass or cloud playtime | Microsoft service features under the offer's terms | XBPlayer app payments and internet access |
For Remote Play, your Xbox runs the game; for Cloud Gaming, a Microsoft server does. If you are still choosing a mode, start with the comparison of the two ways to play. Mobile data is charged according to your carrier's plan regardless of whether the app is free.
How free minutes work on Android
The Android Google Play description, checked on October 24, 2026, states 60 minutes of starting balance and 30 minutes for each optional video watched in full. Accumulated time does not expire and is used while streaming. Before starting another session, use the balance and top-up amount shown in your version of the app.
XBPlayer ads do not appear during gameplay. Reaching zero does not end a session already in progress: you need to top up before the next connection. These rules apply to XBPlayer minutes; the cloud service's own limits are accounted for separately.
If the balance does not update after a completed ad, record the event time, app version and on-screen message. Do not keep watching more ads to work around an unexplained failure; send those details through support on the XBPlayer website.
Before buying Pro
- Check the amount, currency, included access and platform on which you are buying.
- Check the duration: a lifetime purchase or access for a set period. If the offer is a subscription, read its renewal terms and next payment date.
- Confirm which devices the purchase covers. Access on one platform should not automatically be treated as a license for every other platform.
- Before confirming payment, keep the store's information about the terms and how to manage the purchase.
Buy paid access after a successful play session if you want to stop watching ads and topping up the balance. Payment does not fix network latency or unlock a game your account cannot access.
If you have paid but the app does not recognize the purchase
Check that you are using the store account and installation channel through which you purchased access. Your Microsoft Xbox account and app-store account serve different purposes. Then open the paid-access screen and use “Restore purchase”, if that action is available in your channel.
If access is not restored, check the order status in the store and try again after connectivity is restored. For support, prepare your platform, XBPlayer version, purchase date and order ID. Do not publish payment details, passwords or a full receipt containing personal information; provide requested details only through a private support conversation. There is no need to buy the same access again before the cause is understood.
Do you also need Game Pass?
Game Pass is not required for Remote Play itself. If the installed game launches on your Xbox under the correct profile, you can test Remote Play. The game or its online mode may still require a subscription.
For cloud play, check the exact game and account terms. Essential, Premium, Ultimate, exceptions for certain free-to-play games, and the hours announced for November 2026 are covered in “Which Game Pass do you need for phone gaming?”. XBPlayer minutes and Microsoft hours are not added together and do not replace each other.
