Xbox Games for Android TV: Racing, Building, Stories and Shooting

A drive through Mexico, a shared Minecraft project, BG3 party decisions or a high score in Halo’s Weapon Drills: choose a game for an evening in front of the TV.

Choose Forza Horizon 5 for driving through a beautiful world on TV, Baldur's Gate 3 for discussing a story together, Minecraft for building, or Halo Infinite for action. These games make different demands on viewing distance and attention. This selection is for Android TV or Google TV with one connected controller: what to enjoy in an evening, and which details need to be clear from the couch.

Choose an activity for the evening

GameWhy play it on TV?What needs to be visible from the couch?Who it suits
Forza Horizon 5A free-roam drive through Mexico and one chosen road eventA distant corner, road boundaries and the minimapPlayers who want to alternate exploration and racing
Minecraft, BedrockDesign and build a substantial part of your world: a bridge between banks or a house based on a shared planThe selected block, item bar and depth of the sceneA solo builder or a group discussing a project
Baldur's Gate 3Play a choice-driven scene and decide what the party should doEvery dialogue option, item stats and ability descriptionsPeople interested in story and discussing decisions
Halo InfiniteContinue the campaign or improve a Weapon Drill resultThe target, shields, ammo and important indicators at the edges of the framePlayers who enjoy aiming and movement with a controller

On a shared screen, you can choose a route, building project or dialogue response together while one person holds the controller. This differs from local co-op with several controllers. For an online team, each participant launches their own game; platforms and purchases are covered in the co-op roundup.

Forza Horizon 5: a road trip and a finished race

Part of Horizon's appeal is seeing the whole road: spotting a bend early, choosing a line and taking in the scenery. After the introduction, take a familiar car, plan a paved-road route and finish the drive with an available road event. The evening has a clear rhythm: exploration, a race, then a new point on the map.

From the couch, first choose a camera that shows the corner ahead. If numbers and the map are small, use FH5's available interface text-size settings; a beautiful road image does not replace a readable route indicator. Learn throttle and braking in one car without also changing assists. The FH5 guide covers launching and controls. For a new campaign in Japan, see Horizon 6.

Minecraft: a build everyone can see

A television makes it easier to discuss a building's overall shape. In a separate Creative world, choose a palette and build a bridge across a familiar stretch of water or a house from your own plan: the outline first, then entrances and details. Turn the camera and inspect the result from several sides. Others in the room can suggest ideas while the player with the controller builds them.

Small inventory slots still matter on a large screen. In Bedrock, adjust interface scale and make sure you can distinguish the selected item from your usual seat. Do not change the mode of a valuable Survival world for a trial. The separate Minecraft guide helps you continue a particular Xbox world or choose a mobile copy.

Baldur's Gate 3: a story for an attentive evening

BG3 suits an evening when you want to consider responses and tactics rather than keep reacting quickly. You can read a conversation together, discuss the choice and then play the next encounter. One controller manages the party in a single-player campaign; other people's advice does not require a second player slot.

This is the most text-demanding choice here. Check not just subtitles but reply options, radial menus and item properties. Book Text Size enlarges books and notes; it does not address every interface issue. If you have to guess a line from your usual seat, move closer or use a screen you find easier to read. For Remote Play, BG3 installs on Series X|S, not Xbox One. The BG3 guide covers radial menus and saves.

Halo Infinite: a campaign or a weapon high score

Choose the campaign for story and battles if you have Campaign access; the free Academy offers a self-contained challenge. In Academy → Weapon Drills, pick one weapon and a finite difficulty tier, finish the drill and try to improve your star result. Endless is intended for practice without a set endpoint.

For a shooter, clear targets and indicators matter, as does the television's image processing. With an external Android box, enable a suitable game mode for its HDMI input; for a built-in app, use the TV settings available to that app. Do not assume an HDMI mode applies to every built-in app. Halo text size is changed in Settings → Accessibility. Full launch steps and commands are in the Halo Infinite guide.

Prepare the television and launch method

  1. Install XBPlayer on Android TV/Google TV or an Android box connected to the television. The TV guide provides step-by-step setup.
  2. Connect the controller to the device running the client: the television or box. A remote handles system actions but does not replace two gaming sticks. The connection guide helps you choose the correct receiving device.
  3. For Remote Play, install the game on a compatible Xbox and open it under your profile. For the cloud, open the exact title's listing under the same account and use the access specified there; appearing in this roundup does not give you a subscription to the game.
  4. Sit in your usual place and open the most important screen for the chosen game: a map, inventory, conversation or aiming view. If small text is the problem, use readability settings rather than raising resolution in the hope of enlarging letters.

Choose a game for the activity you want to keep doing from that seat: driving, building, following a story or landing a precise shot. A shared screen helps you see the scene and discuss decisions; comfort with a particular interface also depends on distance, game settings and controls.
