How to sign in to XBPlayer and check your Xbox profile
Sign in through Microsoft, then check your Xbox gamertag. Learn how code and QR sign-in work, choose an account and verify the result without deleting data.
On this page
To sign in to XBPlayer, use the Microsoft account linked to your Xbox profile. The app supports signing in from another device with a code or QR code. After authorization, check the gamertag, your profile's gaming name. Successful sign-in alone does not confirm access to the console, game or save you need.
Find your account and choose a mode before signing in
If you have played on Xbox before, first check your familiar gamertag on the console or after signing in to the official Xbox website. That is the profile you need to continue your game. You do not need to create a separate XBPlayer account.
Your email address and gamertag are different things. A Microsoft account can also have several sign-in addresses, which Microsoft calls aliases. A different address therefore does not always mean a different Xbox profile. If you have forgotten the address, start with Microsoft's official account-finding instructions.
- For Remote Play: you need an Xbox One or Series X|S with remote features enabled. First launch the installed game on the console under your profile and check your progress.
- For Xbox Cloud Gaming: no console is required. Check the specific game's availability for your account and region. Buying a game alone does not make it available in the cloud.
If you have not decided, open the Remote Play and Cloud Gaming comparison. Before authorizing, also make sure you can complete sign-in using the verification method configured with Microsoft.
How to sign in with a code or QR code
- In XBPlayer, tap “Use a Microsoft sign-in code”. A code, Microsoft page address and QR code will appear.
- Tap “Open Microsoft sign-in” on this device or scan the QR code with another. If needed, use “Copy code” and enter it on Microsoft's page. This is a sign-in code, not a game key or console pairing code.
- Check the account offered by the browser. Choose the profile linked to your gamertag and confirm sign-in.
- Return to XBPlayer and wait for completion. Check your gaming name in the account menu. If the code has expired, tap “New code” and use that one instead.
If Microsoft rejects the credentials, restore access through Microsoft. If confirmation succeeds but XBPlayer asks you to sign in again, proceed to sign-in troubleshooting. Do not send your password, sign-in codes or QR code to support.
Your password is entered through Microsoft. Sign-in tokens are kept in the device's secure storage; no separate Hetko account is needed to play. See the sign-in and data guide for details.
What to do if a different profile opens
Compare the current session's gamertag with the one you previously used. For Remote Play, also check the active user on the Xbox itself. An avatar or the ability to launch one game does not replace checking the profile.
Open the account menu at the top of the home screen. Other accounts already added are listed there; select the one you need. To add another, tap “Manage accounts” → “Add account” and complete a new Microsoft sign-in. If the browser offers the previous account again, change it before confirming. For switching consoles and changing their names, use the multiple-Xbox guide.
If Microsoft offers to create a profile even though you already have game progress, check the account first. If a game offers to start over, do not create new progress before checking the active profile, game edition and save synchronization. A missing save alone does not prove a sign-in error.
How to check the sign-in result
| What you see | Next step |
|---|---|
| The right profile, but no console found | Check remote features and the Xbox's network connection. |
| The game asks for a purchase or subscription | Check access to that game in the selected mode; signing in again will not add rights. |
| The cloud game is missing or unavailable | Check cloud support, region and your account's access terms. |
| The Microsoft prompt appears again | Troubleshoot authorization, starting from the last successfully completed step. |
Once the profile is confirmed, launch a familiar available game and check your usual progress. For a purchase or subscription issue, follow the account and game-license checks.
On a shared device, end the stream after playing, open the account menu → “Manage accounts” and tap “Sign out of …” with the correct name. Read the confirmation: the device will forget that account; other added accounts remain. If you confirmed sign-in in a shared browser, end the Microsoft session there too. Closing XBPlayer does not sign you out.
Check sign-in before playing
Tick only confirmed results. You do not need to enter Microsoft account details on this page to use the checklist.
I identified the Xbox profile I expect
Check the familiar gamertag on Xbox or the official site. Different sign-in addresses may be aliases of one account; use the profile itself as the reference.
I confirmed my account with Microsoft
Use the address, code or QR code from the XBPlayer sign-in you started. Before confirming, make sure the browser selected your account.
The expected profile appeared in XBPlayer
After confirmation, return to the app and check the gamertag. If it asks you to sign in again, record the last successful step and investigate that error.
XBPlayer sign-in problems: Microsoft errors and repeated prompts →I checked access and progress before continuing
Check the right to launch the game in the selected mode. For Remote Play, also verify the Xbox’s active user. When continuing a playthrough, find the expected slot; if the game offers to start over, stop until you have checked profile, edition and synchronization.
An Xbox game you own asks you to buy it again: account, license and cloud →These checks do not confirm access to every game. Never share passwords, sign-in codes or authorization QR codes.
