How to choose Russian for a cloud game in XBPlayer
“Game language” sets a request for the next cloud session and is stored for the selected account. Russian appears only if the particular game supports and applies it.
On this page
To request Russian for a cloud game, open “Settings → Cloud region → Game language” in XBPlayer, select Russian and start a new cloud session. The change does not switch the language of a session already running. A game may ignore the request; this setting cannot add a translation that does not exist.
Do not confuse three different settings
| Setting | What it affects |
|---|---|
| XBPlayer interface language | The client’s own labels, buttons and menus. A Russian app interface does not guarantee Russian text inside a game. |
| Game language under “Cloud region” | The preference XBPlayer sends for the selected account when the next Cloud Gaming session starts. |
| Cloud Gaming region and access | Service conditions and cloud access. Choosing a language does not replace game access, a subscription or support for a country. |
The language option is on the “Cloud region” page, but changing language does not require changing the selected region at the same time. Keep other conditions unchanged so you can tell whether the new language request helped or something else changed. Access conditions are covered in the Game Pass and cloud gaming guide.
Step by step: choose a language and start a new session
- Check the selected Microsoft account in XBPlayer. If you use several, configure the one you use to launch the game.
- Open “Settings → Cloud region → Game language”.
- Select Russian from the language list. To return to the device language, use “Same as device”.
- If the game is running, save progress through the game and wait for saving to finish. End the cloud stream itself.
- Launch the same game again from XBPlayer’s cloud catalog and check the menu language, then text and voice audio in a familiar scene.
The choice is stored on this device separately for each account. Check its value after switching accounts; a setting for one profile does not mean the same selection applies to another. It is also worth checking the preference again after signing out and back in.
Buttons, subtitles and speech may have different settings and different sets of translations. If menus change to Russian but voice audio does not, open the game’s own language and audio settings. Do not judge the entire localization by the title screen alone.
If Russian does not appear
| Result | What to do |
|---|---|
| You changed the language, but the game stayed open throughout | Save, end the cloud session and start a new one. Returning from settings to the old session does not test the new request. |
| A new session started with a different account selected | Open “Game language” for the current account and select it again. |
| The game menus changed, but subtitles or voices did not | Check the separate in-game options. Text and voice language support may differ. |
| One language applies, another does not | Check the publisher’s supported languages for the specific Xbox version and the game settings. XBPlayer’s list is not a list of translations for every game. |
| This game’s language does not change at all | The game may ignore the supplied preference or store its own choice. Try its internal settings and tell us the result if the expected option is available. |
Keep one device, account and game for comparison. If you try another language, start a separate new session and record the actual observation: “menus changed”, “only subtitles changed” or “nothing changed”. You do not need to change subscriptions or buy the game for this check.
Why this setting does not change Remote Play’s language
Remote Play shows a game running on your Xbox. “Game language” in cloud settings does not apply to that launch. For your own console, use the game’s or Xbox system’s language settings and the requirements of the particular version; follow its restart prompt after changing them.
If you are unsure which mode you are using, compare Remote Play and Cloud Gaming. There is a separate first cloud-game guide; access and launch problems are covered in Cloud Gaming troubleshooting.
What to report about an unexpected language
Email hi@hetko.eu with the game title and edition, device and XBPlayer version, selected language, whether you started a new cloud session, and what the menus, subtitles and voice audio use. Note whether the required option exists inside the game. Your login, password and sign-in codes are unnecessary.
This description helps distinguish the client’s saved preference from a particular game’s behavior. Use “Same as device” or another available option to keep a usable language if the new setting makes menus difficult to read.
