What the Google Play listing status means

Open XBPlayer’s official listing on the device you will play on and find the corresponding label.

“Install”

Check the name XBPlayer: Remote Play & Cloud and developer Hetko Apps & Games. Install the app, wait for completion and tap “Open”. Installation is complete when the app launches.

“Update”

Wait for the game to save and end the stream. Record the previous version if needed, then update XBPlayer. Check the profile, picture, sound and buttons in a familiar game.

Only “Open”

The store is not currently offering an update to the selected device. Open the client and choose Remote Play from your Xbox or Cloud Gaming for an available cloud game.

Xbox Remote Play or Xbox Cloud Gaming: which should you use? →

The app is unavailable

Record the exact store message, device model and Android version. In the web store, check the selected device. Support can use these details to clarify the cause.

The download never finishes

Check internet access, free space and the download queue. Close and reopen Google Play; if it still fails, restart the device and try again.

The store result applies to a particular device. An “Open” button does not confirm that every user is being offered the same version.

Where to download XBPlayer for Android

The app is named XBPlayer: Remote Play & Cloud, and its Google Play developer is Hetko Apps & Games. The listing URL includes the identifier eu.hetko.xbplayer. The Google Play link on the XBPlayer website leads to the same app.

XBPlayer streams games from your Xbox or Xbox Cloud Gaming. Installation does not include games, Game Pass or cloud-service access. A normal Google Play installation does not need a separate APK.

What to check before installation

  • App availability. Open the listing on the actual phone or tablet you intend to use. If installing through the store's website, check the selected device. Installation being available on one phone does not confirm compatibility with another device.
  • Storage and connectivity. Check free space in Android settings and internet access. If Google Play reports an error, save its exact wording.
  • System version. XBPlayer requires Android 10 or later. Also use Google Play's compatibility result for the specific device. The minimum Android version for browser-based Remote Play is not XBPlayer's requirement.

If the app is unavailable for the device, first use the store message to identify the reason. General checks are covered in Google's help for downloading a single app.

How to install and open the app

  1. Tap “Install” on XBPlayer's listing. Wait for download and installation to finish. If the download is queued, check other pending Google Play downloads.
  2. Tap “Open”. If XBPlayer launches, installation is complete; connecting to a game is a separate setup step.
  3. Sign in to the Microsoft account with the correct Xbox profile. For your console, use the Android Remote Play instructions; for cloud play, use the Xbox Cloud Gaming instructions.

If needed, record the installed version number: many devices show it in system app information. Open Android settings, find the app list and select XBPlayer. The version number's location varies by manufacturer. The store's update date does not replace the version number installed on your device.

How to update XBPlayer and check the result

  1. Prepare. Save through the game and end the stream. To compare behavior between versions, record your current version and important control settings.
  2. Start the update. Tap “Update” on XBPlayer's listing. Another Google Play route is the profile icon → “Manage apps & device” → “Updates available” → “See details” → “Update” next to XBPlayer.
  3. Wait for completion. Then open the app and check that the correct Xbox profile is selected.
  4. Run a short test. Launch a familiar game in the same way as before. Check picture, sound and main buttons. If something fails, record the new version and the specific difference from previous behavior.

The update route and the meaning of the “Update” button are confirmed in Google's help. An ordinary update does not require uninstalling XBPlayer or clearing its data first.

If “Update” is missing or the download stalls

Only “Open” is shown. The store is not currently offering an update to this device. That does not prove every user has the same version. Check availability in Google Play on your own device rather than a date in someone else's screenshot.

The download never finishes. Check internet access, free space and the download queue. Close and reopen Google Play; if that does not help, restart the device and try again. Further steps are in the download error help. Signing back into Xbox inside XBPlayer does not fix a store download.

The app is installed, but the game will not start. Check the chosen mode, account and game access using the guides above. Installing the client and setting up game streaming are separate stages.

What to prepare for support

Record the device model, Android version, installed XBPlayer version and exact error. Identify the stage: downloading, installing, opening the app or starting a stream. If the failure began after an update, add the previous version if known and the steps needed to reproduce it.

Contact our team through the official Google Play listing's support section. If other apps also fail to download, start with Google Play help to investigate the store itself.
