For a relaxing Xbox game on Android, consider three options: Unpacking for arranging belongings without a timer, Stardew Valley for tending a farm, and A Short Hike for walking and gliding through a mountain park. Choose by the activities you enjoy and the time you have. In Stardew Valley, you need to finish the day to save; in the other two, spotting small objects or ledges on a phone screen is particularly important.

How to launch the Xbox version

All three games are available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Remote Play requires your own console with remote features enabled and an installed game available to your profile. Install XBPlayer on Android, sign in with Microsoft and connect to the console. Preparation is covered in the first Remote Play session guide. The phone receives the Xbox picture and sends inputs; the game continues running on the console.

Without a console, you can check Xbox Cloud Gaming. As of October 22, 2026, US Xbox listings show cloud play for all three games: Stardew Valley is included in the Game Pass plans listed on its page, while Unpacking and A Short Hike require a game purchase and a suitable Game Pass plan. Before paying, open your chosen game's listing under your account and check your region's terms. XBPlayer does not include game access or subscriptions.

Stardew Valley also has a separate Android edition with its own touch controls. Installing it differs from streaming Xbox: control and save behavior cannot automatically be carried between versions. To continue your console farm, read the comparison of mobile Stardew Valley and Xbox streaming.

Each game below includes a short activity to help you choose controls and judge comfort on your device.

Stardew Valley: a peaceful farm with a daily routine

You can grow crops, tend animals, talk to villagers and explore the surrounding area. On your first day, work on the planting beds: prepare the soil and water the crops you plant. On an established farm, harvest ripe crops and clear inventory space at a chest. You will quickly see whether moving, choosing a tool and targeting the right tile feels comfortable.

On a small screen, check two things: whether you can see the tool in your hand and distinguish neighboring inventory items. If you keep choosing the wrong one, try the same section with a controller. If names remain hard to read even without fingers on the screen, a tablet or another larger screen will be more useful.

A cozy farm does not always mean no time pressure. The in-game day is limited, fishing takes practice, and dangerous enemies inhabit the mines. For a calm session, you can stay on the farm rather than plan a long outing.

Before quitting, put your character to bed and wait for saving to finish and the next morning to begin. The Xbox version saves progress at the end of the day. If you close the game itself earlier, you will need to repeat that day's actions. Disconnecting XBPlayer does not by itself save the farm.

Unpacking: no timer, but precision matters

In Unpacking, you take belongings out of boxes and find places for them in rooms. There are no timers or scores. You can take your time examining an object and trying different places. On a phone, however, you need to distinguish small items and empty shelf space.

To try the controls, unpack several differently sized objects and place them together on a shelf. Pick one up again and move it. If the pointer regularly overshoots, compare the on-screen stick with a compatible controller. If objects are too small with either input method, try a larger screen.

XBPlayer's touch buttons send console-controller commands. They do not turn the Xbox version into a mobile game where you move belongings by directly touching them. Move buttons that cover the room and adjust their size so you can see where you are placing an object.

A Short Hike: trails, climbs and gliding

A Short Hike invites you to explore a mountain park: follow marked trails or leave them, meet other travelers, climb and glide over the slopes. Choose it if you want to move through a world and discover interesting places.

Pick a visible destination you would like to reach: follow a trail, talk to someone you meet, climb higher and glide down. This outing gives you a feel for A Short Hike without chasing a score. Check whether dialogue is readable, ledges are visible and you can steer toward a landing spot. The adventure's relaxed tone still calls for precise controls.

If your fingers cover the route, move the on-screen buttons or connect a controller. If ledges are hard to distinguish even without buttons over them, compare the picture on a larger screen. Reaching your chosen location is a good goal for an outing, but does not by itself confirm a save.

How to finish your first session

In Stardew Valley, aim for the saved morning of the following day. In Unpacking and A Short Hike, open the game menu in advance and check how to quit with progress saved. Follow the prompts in your installed version; if quitting brings up a warning about lost progress, cancel and complete the stated step. End the stream after saving in the game itself.

Judge a touch layout by a complete action: watering a crop, moving an object or landing on a ledge. In XBPlayer, you can change control positions and sizes, then save the layout. If accidental inputs remain frequent after adjustments, repeat the same section with a compatible controller.

For a small activity with a clear finish, see the 15–20-minute session ideas; if you would rather consider every move, compare turn-based Xbox games on Android.
