Start with a comfortable grip
Hold your phone or tablet as you would while playing. Find your thumbs’ natural positions, then check whether you can reach the sticks, main buttons and triggers comfortably.
Try the layout in a familiar game. If a routine action makes you shift your grip or stretch, move that control closer. Buttons do not have to sit symmetrically; they need to be comfortable to use.
Adjust size and spacing
XBPlayer lets you move and resize touch controls, then save your layouts. Start with the buttons you use most and make them large enough to hit confidently.
Give sticks room to move and leave gaps between neighbouring buttons to avoid accidental taps. Keep an eye on the game too: controls should not cover the map, prompts or other important information.
Try the combinations you actually use
Testing each button separately is not enough. Try a familiar combination: steering while accelerating, moving and jumping, or aiming and firing. You will quickly see whether your fingers have enough room and your grip stays comfortable.
Highlights show which control is pressed, and each stick follows your finger. The D-pad and sticks are separate controls. If you keep hitting a neighbouring button, increase the spacing or adjust its size.
Save a layout that works
Change one control at a time and try it in a game. Once you have a comfortable layout, save it so you do not have to set everything up again.
Touch controls are useful when you want to play without carrying another device. For a long session or more demanding button combinations, you can connect a compatible gamepad. Choose the controls that suit the game and where you are playing.
